Jon Hornstein – President
Jon is responsible for sales, marketing, operations, and generally making sure that clients are happy and the staff is well supported. Jon brings more than 20 years experience with digital asset management (DAM) and publishing production systems as a vendor, consultant, and customer.
Jon served as the founding Director of Technical Services at Canto. He most recently served as the Director of NASA Images at the Internet Archive. There, in cooperation with NASA, he led a group that created the largest repository of NASA media available from a single site. Previously Jon was General Manager of Erickson Productions and Vice President of Strategy of iXL’s Digital Media Solutions Group. Earlier in his career Jon was Photo Editor at US News & World Report and Production Manager at MacWeek magazine.
Jon holds a BA in International Relations from San Francisco State University and an MA in International Affairs from The Elliot School at The George Washington University.
Michael Gellner – CTO/Co-Founder
Michael oversees the product and customization development and heads the German office. His main goal is to deliver the right solution for every customer. Michael has been working in the Digital Asset Management world since 2001. From the beginning on his focus was on efficiently customizing solutions for customers to help them to improve their workflows.
Michael has a degree in International Media and Computer Science from the Hochschule für Technik und Wirtschaft in Berlin.
Markus Bohunovsky – Co-Founder
Markus Bohunovsky studied computer science at the Technische Universitaet Wien (technical university of Vienna, Austria). After moving to the United States he worked with various non-profit organizations in the area of desktop publishing and computer design. In 1998 he started at Canto Software as the Manager of their US Technical Support division. He later took over the role of Product Manager for a short time and eventually became Canto’s Director of Technical Services. After 6 years with Canto, Markus left Canto to found Modula4 with Michael Gellner.
At the end of 2010 Markus retired from the position as CEO and continues to advise the company as a member of its board and as a consultant.
Larry Bosworth – Support Manager
A native to Northern California, Larry continues to live, with his wife, in the part of the world he was born. He describes San Francisco as a wonderful place to work, but not what keeps him coming back day after day. He enjoys the challenge of working with customers and figuring out their workflow and creating a Digital Asset Management solution that caters to their needs.
Larry is also passionate about photography; which helps the transition of setting up a workflow execution. Larry specializes in Cumulus Enterprise and Workgroup upgrades and new installations. With over 6 years of Cumulus knowledge, Larry also enjoys training end-users to get the most out of their Cumulus products. Larry has a degree in Computer Science and English.
Mathias Fricke – Software Engineer
Mathias is originally from Germany’s largest island in the Baltic Sea. Through various positions, he came to Berlin in 2010 to join the developer team of Modula4. He has mastered not only different programming languages but also several foreign languages, he enjoys reading and likes cycling, preferably in Sweden.
Mathias has a degree in Protestant theology, but started studying computer science in 2007 and hopes to begin his thesis for this soon.
Jordi Hernandez – Software Engineer
Jordi moved from Karlsruhe in the southwest of Germany to Berlin in 2006 to become the first employee in the Berlin office. He studied business studies and computer science in Kaiserslautern, Germany, and gained first experiences in the range of software engineering during his diploma thesis.
At Modula4, his field of activity is the customer-oriented development of Cumulus customizations and plug-ins as well as the development and improvement of Modula4 products. Sven Hülsebus – Software Engineer
Sven grew up in the Wittgensteiner Land area, did learn computer programming “back then on the Apple ][” and has been working in the field ever since, in recent years as an IT Consultant for Software Development and Architecture.
In his spare time he enjoys to be outdoors, preferably somewhere in the woods watching wild life.
Steffi Kahra – UX Designer
Steffi helped design the very first version of Modula4’s Web Module in 2005, and has done the design of customizations for many Modula4’s clients over the years. Other clients of hers include Sony, the World Wildlife Fund, T-Systems and McCann Erickson.
In 2016, life has come full circle. Steffi is now a full time employee at the Modula4 Berlin office, a Canto Certified Integrator, and the resident User Experience specialist.
Steffi earned her degree in International Media and Computer Sciences at the HTW in Berlin. Afterwards, she spent the following 12 years roaming the world, it’s beaches, and its IT agencies. She adores her mountain bike almost as much as her MacBook.
Jason Lewis – Solution Specialist
After living and working in various locations throughout the US, Jason has returned to his roots in the San Francisco Bay Area. Graduating with a degree in Graphic Communications and working in the print and design industry for a number of years, Jason eventually migrated to the technical side of business. Since 1996 he has spent his time in network administration, IT consulting and most recently web development. With his varied background, Jason enjoys discovering customer needs and helping to provide technical solutions to meet those needs.
Ines Mullins – Support
Born in Berlin Ines finished her training as a programmer in Frankfurt am Main and worked as software developer for shipping companies. After a few years she moved back to Berlin, where after staying at home with her small child she started working in the medical/pharmaceutical industry as secretary and assistant. After starting at Modula4 as replacement for Ute in the German office, Ines is now working as part of the support team.
Besides her job, she loves to work on art and web design projects.
Fritz-Ullrich Schneider – Software Engineer
Ulli is one of the software developers in our German office in Berlin. He left his native Saxony in 1999 and came to Berlin for job-related reasons. He made his first attempts at programming with old school data processing machines most of the Modula4 members only know from books or hearsay.
Ulli joined the Modula4 team in November 2006. He is responsible for the customization of the Cumulus interface according to customer requests and for the constant advancement of some of our company’s Cumulus enhancements.
Janina Vahl – Accounting
Janina has a degree in linguistics and is a passionate translator on the side. After studying Italian philology, she worked for many years as a management assistant and now supports Modula4 in the accounting department.
Her responsibilities include the support of the accounting department as well as the office management
Juan Visperas – Senior Account Manager
Juan most recently served as Senior Account Manager at Canto and has been there since 1998. With nearly 20 years in the Digital Asset Management industry, he has worked with many of the top companies throughout North America providing DAM solutions across a wide spectrum of markets from Fortune 500 organizations to small businesses.
Juan studied Graphic Design at Academy of Art University in San Francisco. He was raised in San Francisco and follows all of the local sports teams, especially the Giants! On his downtime, he enjoys spending it with his wife and twin daughters either at a game or at home. He also loves to keep his finger on the pulse of what’s new in consumer technology, so don’t be surprised to see him running around with the latest “kickstarter” project on his person!
Ute Vock – Administration
Ute is the office manager of our Berlin office. She is a native of Berlin and holds an MA in English, American and Celtic Studies. After graduation, she worked in administration before joining Modula4 in 2008
Her responsibilities include general administrative duties and managing the content of the German web site.
